6.4 Alejandro Gonzales

Summer 1996, The Mudhole (bandroom)

"Look, who's here already!"

Francesco's mocking voice pulled Alejandro out of his slumber.

"Hey Al! So eager for rehearsal today?"

Alejandro made a noise when he realized his back ache. Had he fallen asleep?

After Linda had so cruelly turned him down, he kept wandering around a little bit, and ended up here.

He wasn't used to rejection at all.

"What's wrong?" Francecso asked him. He looked almost seriously concerned.

Alejandro just was about to spill out what bothered him, but then he remembered the last time he tried.

Not gonna happen again.

So he just thought of something less embarrassing.

"I swear, with that damn baby there's no night I slept peacefully anymore!", he said, "and of course Rita has to keep it in our bedroom!" It was true, after all.

"Sounds tough. Let's go to work", Francesco replied, unimpressed.

Alejandro knew it. That man had no heart.

"Let's try 'Blues in May' again", Francesco said. "We have to put it on the new album, but something is not right yet with the beat!"

"...Really?", Nico wasn't too happy about it. He complained usually that it was too happy for their style.

Alejandro didn't care. The song was catchy, and he bet it would be their next big hit.

He started to tune up his guitar.
