Good days

5.5 Linda West
Summer 1996, The Mudhole

Linda looked with disbelief at the rundown building that had once been a depot in the harbour.
"So this is the best night club in town now?", she asked.
"It is!", her sister confirmed eagerly. "Everyone is talking about it!"
She wasn't too convinced, but decided to give it a try. Mae had begged her for a while already to go out to dance with her. Linda was surprised she didn't make any friends yet that wanted to go with her instead.
Linda hated dancing.

After all, it wasn't so bad. The music was maybe a bit too loud, but pretty neat. They ordered some cocktails at the bar, and Mae immediately started chattering about her new - boyfriend.

"You barely went out a few times, how can you call him your boyfriend yet?", Linda asked laughing.
"Well - ", Mae took a short break to think for a second, which didn't happen too often.
"He did kiss me, after all", she finally said. "And I'm pretty sure he doesn't kiss anyone else. That makes him kinda my boyfriend, no?"

Linda had to laugh even more now.
"You make everything sound so easy!", she said.
"Well, maybe you just make everything too complicated!", her sister shot back.

"Hey, Mae? Is that you?", she heard a male voice appear behind her.
"Franny?!"
Linda could see the surprise on her sister's face turn into a bright smile.
"What are you doing in Windenburg?"

"What are you doing here?", the man with the long hair asked. "Come, let's dance!"
"Aww, Yes!!" Mae couldn't resist dancing ever. "Linda, I'll come back in a bit!", she added, jumping up already.
"...Sure?", Linda managed to squeeze out, not really able to follow what just happened.

At least her cocktail arrived by now. It looked delicious.
