8.1 Diana Foster
Autumn 1996, caravan park

"I'm impressed!", Don assured her, yelling against the too loud noise Paolo generated from the new DJ pult he recently bought.
"I heard the entry test for nurses in Newcrest hospital is not easy! How you managed to learn so much?", Don continued.
"I had a lot of help from all, taking care of Lana!", Diana replied.
She couldn't help but feel a little proud of her acomplishment.
When her friends had noticed how tired she always was, they offered to take care of the baby from time to time. Frank in particular, had taken her daughter over to his house quite often, so she could learn. But he always had too much free time anyhow.
Maybe she should have applied to the SRC instead of the hospital.

Frank was flipping some burgers on the grill, when Diana looked for him.
"Where's Leroy? I thought he would come too?", she asked, a little disappointed, that one of her friends wasn't celebrating with her.
"I don't know, he went to some plant fair in Willow Creek with his new girlfriend", he replied.
Diana remembered Leroy telling something about someone new he was dating. She wasn't sure if she had met her yet, though. There were always so many people around.

Suddenly Paolo turned up the volume even more.
"Listen to this groove! Come dance people!", he yelled.
Most people laughed and started to jump on the beat, including Diana.

"Guys! Want some more drinks?", Eva yelled from the other corner.

Diana got a beer, but noticed Rosa to be empty handed.
"You don't want anything?", she asked her.
"Well, Eva doesn't have water anymore!", her friend replied. "You know I'm trying to have a baby! Maybe it happened already!" She beamed.
Diana didn't understand why someone wanted to be pregnant by free will. She loved her daughter, but pregnancy was horrible to her.
But then again, maybe it was different when you were married.

When she turned around, she noticed Frank making out with Hanna.
"Hey! You two! Go home!", she called over cheerfully.

"What?! You gonna kick out your own family?", he said, playing to be offended.

"Only if you cannot behave in my yard!", she shot back, laughing.
The two others laughed too, but then they left.

  1. I have to give Diana a lot of credit. Taking care of a baby while studying for her entrance exam for Nursing School had to be a lot of hard work. She did it without any help from the deadbeat dad.

  4. I don't know if I mentioned it anywhere, but she has to do a general education first before starting to specialize.

And I guess she has enough child care at home already xD

Hanna is the black haired girl. Let's say, she's rather unimportant...

  7. Gah! Being a mother who studies or is in professional training will be hard. And from what I've heard, nurse training is VERY hard. She hasn't chosen an easy path
