10.3 Spring Wedding

Spring 1997, Peasant's church

Linda sat down alone on one of the tables. The wedding dance of the bridal couple had looked really pretty. Soon the others joined them, dancing waltz.
Linda enjoyed to watch them.
She remembered how Alejandro wanted to take her out to dance a few times. She had always declined.
And then she remembered their break up. She hadn't thought about it too much, but now it was vexing her again.

"You look like you're not even here", Frank said, coming over to her table.
Linda hoped he wouldn't ask her to dance.
He didn't, but instead sat down.

"I was thinking", she said, looking at how the light broke in the dark red color of the wine, making it sparkle.
"I figured", he said. "Tell me about it."
"When I broke up with my last boyfriend. It was so confusing. He just didn't want to leave, even though I asked him to."

"How impolite", Frank said, and she could hear the amusement in his voice.
"Maybe he liked you", he added then.

"Huh?" Linda's face must have shown her surprise.
"...did that never occur to you?", he asked her in disbelief.
Indeed, it never had.
Alejandro never had told her anything like that.

"Uhm... I'm not really good at understanding people", she admitted shyly, trying to explain herself.
"Yeah... I got that. You're weird", he said, but his smile was warm.
And this time she could understand the person in front of her.
"Plants are just so much easier than people", she said.

  1. Linda stopped thinking about Alejandro. I know I get it you are at a wedding, everyone is paired up and dancing and you are sitting alone. Of course that would give a girl the feeling like "maybe I should have given it another chance" Linda don't fall into that trap. As you see there are plenty of fish in the sea. Frank sat down right next to you and two are having a nice conversation.

  5. People are hard to figure out, and dating relationships can feel impossible. And no,Linda, you did the right thing for breaking up with Alejandro. He was a jerk. You deserve better. I like Frank. He's funny. I have a feeling he and Linda might connect some. ;)

That dancing couple in the back is awesome!

    1. She never thought she did wrong by breaking up with him. She's rather confused about his reaction! Linda needs clear words, not suggestions or compliments.
Frank and Linda easily connect, because he's quite straight forward.

That dancing couple in the back is actually really funny, if you look close XD

  6. To continue with this comparison, tyi Linda, plants do not go either when you ask them to. So plants and Alejandro are really not so different

    1. Lol! But at least they don't talk back or whine :D
Also, you don't go to prison if you let them die. (Linda would never let her plants die tho, ok)

  9. Probably not an amazing opener, talking about your ex. Luckily Frank doesn't care. They are both different. Ugh, they'd be such a good match... *fingers and toes crossed*
