14.1 A fairytale wedding
Summer 1997, Fairy Blossom event garden
"Wait, something is not fixed well!", Linda said.
She, Delilah and Diana helped Mae to get ready for her big day.
"...There you go", she said while fixing one of the pins in Mae's hair.
Mae checked herself again in the full body mirror in front of her. Everything looked perfect, including the huge smile on her face. She was so excited!
"You're so beautiful, Mae!", Diana exclaimed.
In the same moment, the door opened, and Mariella came in with a sigh.
"Marie! What's wrong?", Mae asked her.
She didn't want any unhappy faces today.
"I don't want to play with Anna Brandenburg... she's so boring", the girl said.
Anna Brandenburg was the Schnautz' neighbours' daugher, and the same age as Mariella.
Since Herbert was good friends with the Brandenburgs, he always thought the girls should get along well.
Only his daughter didn't think like that.
"I wish Fernandez was here instead", she sighed again.
"Want to stay here?", Mae asked her. "I still need a bit of help."
She actually didn't need any, but wouldn't mind having her future daughter here.
The girl's eyes lit up. "Yes!", she said.
"Your dress is so pretty!", Mariella said while fiddling on Mae's veil.
Mae felt almost proud. "This is my grandmother's dress", she replied.
Then she turned around to her.
"And since you're basically my daughter now, maybe one day you can wear it."
If Linda didn't want it back for her own daughter.
Which might never happen.
First, because Linda wasn't too much into traditions like this, and second, because Mae wasn't sure if Linda would even ever have a child of her own.
Linda didn't seem to care about that either.
For some reason, the image of Linda putting the dress on one of her plants appeared in Mae's mind.
She wiped it away, before she would have to laugh.
"Really?", Mariella seemed to be excited about the dress, but then her face showed hesitance.
"... I don't even know if I want to get married..."
"Oh, I am pretty sure someday you'll meet someone that you would like to marry!", Mae said, thinking about herself.
If anyone had told her only one year ago that she would get married, she would have laughed in their face.
But now she knew she had changed.
And she knew marriage and having a family would make her happy.
Because everyone was happy when they got married.
I'm glad she has no doubts anymore.

DeleteWell, she better not change her mind after the wedding. That would be cruel. Not just to Herbert but to Mariella as well.
DeleteHmmm... hard to say with Mae. She'd rather run fully into desaster than to admit she made a mistake. If it was, that is.
DeleteOh I wish one of my sims were there to say "I Object" I fear that nothing good will come from this marriage but it looks like its going to happen.

Oh yes, Emit or Holly should be here! They would be definitely more helpful than the fortune teller...
DeleteAs Mae knows her sister, it would really be surprising to her. Even though she believes everyone wants to get married and be happy.

Pretty boy hasn't done anything wrong yet but he is too quiet to trust yet. I don't really know anything about him except that he is a business man and must have some money. You know what they say its those quiet ones you have to watch out for.

DeleteThat last line. Mae is a traditionalist at heart, grandma's dress, superstitions and fairytale beliefs. Its cute and I personally like that. But okay. I hope reality doesn't come knocking on the door, but this is fiction! 😭
