Baby trouble

17.6 Francesco De la Cruz
Autumn 1997, The Mudhole

The band had decided to go out for a drink again. This winter break all had been busy with their own lifes, and especially Francesco was glad to leave all the trouble at home for once.
It was nice to catch up again.
"Congratulations, new father!", Nico said to him.
Two nights ago, his son Luca had been born.

"How can you even want to have kids?!", Alejandro asked.
Francesco had to laugh thinking of his friend's latest mishap. That guy recently had even two he hadn't planned on, one of them with his wife, and another one, god nows where.
"Why not. One should be fine", he replied.
And he loved his son.

"Just wait until Rosa decides she wants more than one", Alejandro said with a gleeful grin.
Francesco didn't bother to answer that. And from what he knew, that included things that hadn't happened for a while in his marriage.
But they didn't need to know that.

"Speaking of Rosa...", Nico started hesitantly, "Franco, did she finally stop nagging you about that song?"
Francesco tried to remember what he had told them about it. It seems he had vent on it one drunken night.
"Well...", he said, "She's kinda busy now with our son, so yeah, for the moment."
"Hey, mind telling us who it was about, after all?", Alejandro asked.
His band mates knew most of Francesco's songs had something to do with his past.
"Finding closure", someone had called it once.
But so far they never had asked about any. They only cared if they were good, and usually they were.

Francesco didn't mind telling.
"Diego Santiago", he said.
Alejandro burst out in laughter. "Your ex-boyfriend?! I can get why you never told her!"

"But she's your wife! She would understand, no?", Nico asked.
Francesco thought for a second. Would she?
"No way", he said then.

"She's already jealous on almost any women I talk to. What if I tell her about Diego?", he said.
Rosa had fired at least five house maids so far, until she got the idea to hire a male one.
Also he wasn't too sure how she would react on the other news that were implied.
Most people seemed to have a problem with it.
Francesco was glad at least his band mates never had.

    1. Plot twist! :D
He'd certainly not have any problems with a threesome with another hot guy ;0

    2. Come to think of it, it may have its merits. :D

  2. Whoa! What a plot twist that was. I never expected that one! Poor Rosa, had to fire all the women maids now she might not be able to keep the male one. And good help is just so hard to find.

Francisco shouldn't be keeping bits of important information from his wife. If Rosa has trust issues maybe that is because she can sense that he is holding back.

    1. Her jealousy puts her to do funny things...

He doesn't find it important to tell her. First of all, he is married to her, so he doesn't intend anyway to date someone else anymore. Second, he is worried about her reaction to him telling her. He has already enough problems with her jealousy and doesn't want to add even more fuel.

  5. did not see that coming. Oh no. He should probably tell his wife, though I don't know how she would take it with all her trust issues.

    1. Not well! It would only give her more reason to freak out.

  6. Diego Santiago... nice name. I wanted to name my chihuahua/jack russell terrier/italian greyhound mix Diego, but he got named Jacob instead... because my bff had a dog named Bella. And we were Twi-hards. But his full name is Jacob Diego Rascal Griffin. Big name, little dog.
Still like the name Diego, though. And Santiago rolls off the tongue with it. And I'd better stop rambling. I've eaten blackberry cobbler that had probably too much sugar.

    1. Oh, but that may be his name... but we call him boo-bear. Or just boo. Or Mr. Boo. Or Monsieur Boo because of the chihuahua thing makes me go... French? Makes no sense, but it's me we're talking about here. Yes, I talk in French to my Chi mix. lol

    2. who wouldn't talk French to their dog, and tbh MAYBE franny called his ex Boo too back then?
      YOU WILL KNOW.

  7. 😦 Oh ex-boyfriend? Is that an experimental phase or he's truly bisexual? Wait. Was he ever with Mae then? He seems like a complete different person from who he was back then.

    1. He is bi. And he had something with Mae too.
      Why like a different person?

  8. He seems pretty responsible in current times. Know to draw the line with Mae. Takes care of Rosa well and handles her jealousy as best as he can. I thought he was experimenting before so if he was figuring himself out he'd act very differently right? 😄

  9. Hang on. Fran had a son TWO DAYS ago, and he's in a club? No wonder he has marriage issues. If I were Rosa, I'd be pissed too. Maybe he really is a new Al in the making.

    1. "Al in the making" 😂😂😂
Yeah, they def have issues. He's not paying attention to her, while she keeps nagging him and doesn't realize how it drives him away even further. It's a bad cycle :x

    2. Fair enough that they have issues, but that's not the kid's fault. Being out clubbing when you have a brand new newborn at home, regardless of issues with the wife, if not normal behaviour, IMHO. So I don't necessarily mean that he'll be a new Al in terms of the cheating (he might, hard to say at the moment), but certainly in terms of the whole detached father thing, he's got a head start already. At least unlike Al, he remembers the gender and name of the poor kid, but it is the first one, after all. But yeah, I know Franny didn't necessarily want a child (which is why it's a terrible idea to have one just to please your partner), but not very impressed with him here.

    3. Sadly it's often the kids that suffer most from marriage problems of their parents v.v
and yeah, I haven't thought about it yet when I wrote it, but if this goes on, he's right on the path down to the absent and detached father, and it starts already right here.
